Associate, Greater Detroit Council and Fellow, Greater Detroit Council -- to honor outstanding members who have distinguished themselves photographically and by outstanding service to the Greater Detroit Camera Club Council and member clubs.

Honorary Member, Greater Detroit Council -- need not be a member of an associate club of the Council, for outstanding contributions to the GDCCC.

The Harry Pusgulian Award is the highest service award given by the Greater Detroit Camera Club council.  The recipient shall have given long-term outstanding service to the GDCCC, such as that given by Harry Pusgulian, and in addition, given extra service in the current year.  He/she shall be a member of a GDCCC member club and shall not have been a previous winner of this award.  It is desirable, but not necessary that the recipient be a Fellow of the Greater Detroit Camera Club Council (FGDC.)

Harry Pusgulian (8/22/22 to 2/18/79) was active for over 20 years with the Photographic Society of America and with the Greater Detroit Camera Club Council.  He was a Fellow of GDCCC and a charter member of Seaway Camera Club.  At different times, he was a member and officer of Silhouette of Dearborn, The Photographic Guild of Detroit, and the Jewish Center Camera Club.  He lectured to every club in the Greater Detroit area and, for many years, ran free workshops in his basement darkroom every week on Wednesday.  He covered judging, critiquing your own work, commenting on other’s prints, and the making of black and white prints.  He did research on polycontrast paper and knew more about obtaining good prints with polycontrast than Eastman Kodak did.
