Minutes: GDCCC GENERAL BOARD MEETING

Date:       January 14, 2003

Meeting Place: Moody-William Printing Company

 

The President, Bill Buchanan, called the meeting to order at 7:34 pm.  There were 4 officers, 5 directors and 11 representatives present.

 

Handouts:

o        Treasurer’s End of Year Report

o        Updated Constitution

 

Officers’ Report:

·         Secretary: The minutes from the November 26, 2002 meeting were reviewed and approved with one correction.  The print competition at Livonia will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2003.

·         Treasurer: $7,041.71 as of December 31, 2003.

 

Directors’ Report:

·         Print –No Report.

·         Color Slide – No Report.

·         Nature – Next competition January 28th Grosse Point.  A lot of slides at end of year did not have club names.  We must make sure all slides are labeled clearly with Title, Maker’s Name, & Club name.

·         2 ¼ Slides – No Report.

·         Newsletter December 2002 Newsletter was mailed January 14, 2003.

·         Website– New Constitution changes are on the website.  The schedule page will be updated shortly.

 

Old Business:

·         International Salon – Things went well with the entry forms for 2003 going out with the catalogs.  Andy Wims looking for another individual for chair or co-chair for 2004.  PSA is holding a virtual salon that accepts emailed images & views them on LCD projector.  Program has set parameters for photo sizing, etc. so images are compatible. No slides to return.  Could be the future of salons.

·         GDCCC Annual Awards Banquet: Motor City will be hosting January 25th at Corsi’s.  Bill Buchanan will provide the screen for the slide show.  Final ticked sales are due 1/20/03.  Alex Lane mrcanon@comcast.net (248) 813-1661 can be called if you have last minute ticket needs.  Ticket sales have been mediocre, down from last year.  All winning prints have been shot digitally and will be shown at the banquet along with nature & color slide presentations.  They will be posted to the website.

·         GDCCC Invitational – shutterbug will host & Jim Campbell is the chairman.  Date is still to be determined.  Should prints be added to the Invitational?  Could be source of additional revenue.

 

Seminars:

·         Photoguild – will host a 2 day seminar with George Lepp, March 29, & 30, 2003 at Henry Ford community College, Dearborn, MI.  This will replace the annual photographic seminar previously held by Photoguild.

 

New Business:

·         Constitution changes – Officers were changed, the change to print matting was included & a reiteration that digital slides must be based on a photograph or photographs taken by the maker.

 

Congratulations to Andy Wims who has accepted the position as Executive VP for PSA.  Bill Buchanan is chairman of Electronic Images & Alex Lane is Director of International Slide Study Groups and Membership Director for photojournalism Division.
