MINUTES: GDCCC GENERAL BOARD MEETING
DATE: JAN 31, 2000
MEETING PLACE: MOODY-WILLIAMS PRINTING COMPANY
The President, Bill Buchanan, called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. There
were four officers, six directors and 20 Club Representatives (seven of those
20 representatives were also officers or directors) present. The minutes from
the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. The GDCCC Secretary's Summary
for 1998-98 was distributed and approved.

The deadline for the next issue is February 15. A suggestion to print 1st
place winners was made. Will include the "Print of the Year" in
each print category since the slides of those prints are still available.
Winning nature and color slides have been given back to their makers, so
those will not be included in this issue.
2000 Awards Banquet:
- Jim Paszkiewicz reported that
there were 186 in attendance at the banquet. Thank you notes to all door
prize donors will go out in the mail tomorrow.
- It was noted that honorary
members did not receive invitations this year and that invitations should
be sent to them for next year's banquet in early fall.
- It would be helpful to have a
checklist of banquet protocol (who lines up a photographer, who needs to
be acknowledged, etc.) and a time schedule for promotion, invitations,
procurement of door prizes, etc. for future hosting clubs. A list of door
prize donors from previous years would give a broader range of prospects
for future banquets. Current officers, associates and fellows should be
recognized at each banquet.
- Grosse Pointe Camera Club is
the host for 2001.
2000 Slide Invitational:
- Judging will be by the
Midland Camera Club. Joann Snavley has entry forms.
Old Business:
- Report on the Constitution,
By-Laws and Rules changes.
- A roll-call vote of the
delegates (two delegates are allowed per club) was taken for the changes
to the Constitution with unanimous vote for approval. Another vote will be
taken at the next meeting according to the rules in the Constitution.
- There were no questions or
discussion concerning By-Laws changes. Changes approved by unanimous vote.
- A motion was made and
seconded to accept the changes to the Rules. New Rules were approved by
unanimous vote.
- Bill Buchanan reported that
the only date the McDonald's have available for fall is October 6. Since
that is during peak color time, which would most likely affect attendance,
he will pursue another speaker.
New Business:
- According to the
Constitution, the president is to appoint a chairperson for the Membership
Committee, the Program Committee, the Bulletin Committee, and the Contests
and Entertainment Committee annually. Bill Buchanan will work on that.
- Discussion regarding division
directors concluded that there is no stated procedure for assignment or
election of directors. It is assumed they'll be volunteers.
- An International Salon
General Chairman is needed. Several possible candidates are being
considered. The Chairman will be supported by existing committee members,
so it shouldn't be an all-consuming project for the new chairman.
Rules Clarification:
- Clarification on maximum
size for prints from page 11 of the Constitution was requested. The
Constitution Committee will rework those lines and present their
recommended changes at the next meeting.
Next two meetings are Tuesday, March 7, 2000 and Wednesday, April 19, 2000
at 7:30 p.m. Meeting adjourned at 8:31 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Diane Kroll, GDCCC Secretary
