Meeting Place: Moody-Williams Printing Company
The President, Art Thompson, called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm. There were 4 officers, 5 directors and 4 representatives present.
Handouts:
· Minutes of 10/29/03 & 12/4/03 GDCCC Meetings
· Year End Treasurer’s Report
Officers’ Reports:
·
Secretary: Minutes 10/29/03 & 12/4/03
meetings approved.
·
Treasurer: Year-end report received and
approved. There was an addition of some
club dues. All banquet expenses were
cleared and addition of 50/50 raffle gave us slight profit. There were fewer attendees than last year.
Directors’ Reports:
·
Print – 1st
Print competition was changed to March 2 at Motor City. Judy Yaker needs response on current email
addresses for officers & directors of each club.
·
Color Slide & 2 ¼ –. Competition February 19th at Avon
·
Nature Slide – Competition February 26th
at West Oakland. Several slides at year-end
did not include club name on slide.
·
General – Directors need to be careful about
including duplicate slides in year-end competition.
·
Newsletter - Final bulletin with end-of-year results should be issued in
next couple of weeks.
·
Website–Working to update year-end awards
information.
Old Business:
· Year End Banquet – The display of actual prints at year-end was missed by many attendees. It was determined that we need to build some display racks so they will be available as needed. The Print & Slide computer presentations were critiqued to enhance next year’s presentation.
· Adobe Photoshop Study Group – Alex Lane unavailable for update
New Business:
· Historian – The question was raised as to who should take responsibility for old bulletins – Barb Facer is recording for Pontiac. We need to determine what is needed to track past officers, Seminars held, Key Historical information year by year. Can we get records for previous camera clubs as well? Several past members had information that it may now be too late to retrieve. Art Thompson is checking and may have a candidate for the post.
· Obituaries – This past year has seen the loss of 4 of our members. We would like to get some photo club related information to round out the current write-ups. We need to make a determination as to how this will be kept on the website. We need to check with club members and get information to John Kroll. Andy Wims’ memorial is listed in the PSA journal.
· Updated Membership lists – The Secretary requested all clubs submit an updated membership list for her records. Clubs can email the secretary with their list or bring it to the next meeting.
· International Salon – There is an error to the information in the PSA listing. They are showing different dates for slides and prints. We need to notify the PSA for correction. Dennis Soavé expressed an interest in helping with digital division for the International Salon. It would require collecting slides, downloading to disk and taking for judgment. Files have size limitation for acceptance. May be possible to upload to website. There is a digital salon being held in Florida. We will be checking it out.
· New Director – Larry Diggs will replace Bill Glaspie as director-at-large
· Print Competition – Do we need to create a separate category for nature prints? The number of people competing in commercial print is dropping. We may need to consider rearranging the categories.
· Digital Competition – Should the council consider getting a digital projector to enable club members to compete in digital slide by emailing entries to EID director. Pontiac and Photoguild are already competing digitally.
Next Meeting: Tuesday March 30, 2004
Meeting adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Bolio, GDCCC Secretary
