Officers Report:

·               Secretary:   Minutes from the December 11, 2007 meeting were accepted with one change:

Digital PSA Salon – The rule established by PSA that no medals can be award in a Salon's first year was changed and eliminated at the last conference in September.  Thus PhotoGuild did not receive any special compensation for their medals.  We also have been approved to award medals.

·               Treasurer:    $15,542.09

                           $12,852.09 (after banquet)

Directors' Report:

·         Prints:

First competition for 2008 held Feb. 6 at Shutterbug.  Next competition scheduled for April 28 at PhotoGuild.  Judging starting at 7:30pm.

·         Color Slide:

First competition for 2008 held Jan. 29 at Grosse Pointe.  Next competition scheduled for Feb. 25 at Pontiac.  Judging starting at 7:30pm.

·         Nature Slides:

First competition for 2008 held Jan. 29 at Grosse Pointe.  Next competition scheduled for Feb. 25 at Pontiac.  Judging starting at 7:30pm.

·         Digital Projection:

First competition held on Jan. 31 at Motor City.  Four images were disqualified.    Much discussion was had on what the proper procedure should be in notifying the involved clubs.  According to Council rules, any Director has the authority to disqualify a slide, print, or digital image and shall notify the participating club of that decision.

·         Web site:

No news.

Old Business:

·               DISP:  Should 2008 be our last DISP?

-          By next Council meeting, if no volunteers have come forth to keep it going, it could be discontinued.  Ron needs an answer by May.

-          Loretta advised no checks were received from the Stereo Division.  Because of the time that would be involved in tracking every check, it was suggested that the Council forego pursuing the matter and absorb the loss.  Motion was accepted and passed.

·               Digital PSA Salon:

-          Dennis will continue to work with Mike Lillis (PSA DP Director) and get things nailed down.

-          Will we be prepared to hold the Salon in September?

·               Rule Change in Selecting GDCCC Judges:

-          Question – Can GDCCC clubs or members who don't participate in a division be asked to be EOY judges?  The current rules say “no.”  Motion was voted on and passed via email to change the rule as follows:  “None of these judges will be actively participating in the Divisions being judged.”

New Business:

·               Question (banquet) – What happened to the CD regarding procedures for conducting the banquet?  It was suggested that Council have one prepared for next year's banquet.  Who should prepare it?

·               Question (bad weather) – What procedure should be established, if any, to notify all clubs that a competition could be canceled because of EXTREME bad weather?  Should the host club notify the council director?  Who should call the club Directors?  Tabled for more discussion.

Next meeting:  Thursday, April 3, 2008 (at Judy Yaker's home)

Meeting adjourned at 9:37pm.
