Minutes:            GDCCC GENERAL BOARD MEETING

Date:                March 13, 2006

Meeting Place:  Judy Yaker’s home

 

President, Art Thompson, called the meeting to order at 7:35 pm. There were 4 officers, 6 directors, and 8 representatives present.

Officers’ Report:

·         Secretary:   The minutes from the February 2, 2006 meeting were reviewed and approved.

·         Treasurer:   No report.  Loretta was not present.

 

Directors’ Report:

·         Prints:

Next competition is April 24 at Photo Guild.

·         2¼ Slides:

The proposal to dissolve the 2¼ Slide Division passed.  A proposal to have one 2¼ Slide competition per year (at EOY) was made and will be voted on at the next meeting.

·         Nature Slide:

The next competition will be April 17 at Pontiac.

·         Color Slide:

The next competition will be March 15 at Shutterbug.

·         Digital Projection:

The next competition will be March 27 at Photo Guild.  After the last competition, Skip discovered that he had submitted an image file from a previous slide winner and disqualified his entry.  Dennis reported that he had missed including Livonia’s entries.  It took approximately 1 hour to set up and calibrate for the first competition.  Dennis will create configuration files for each club and save the files for the next time competition is at each club.

·         Website:

Old Business:

·         REJECTED -- Proposal: “An image that is or has been successful in any division (Monochrome Print, Color Print, 2¼ Slide, Color Slide, Nature Slide, Monochrome General DPD, Color General DPD, or Nature DPD), including Honorable Mention (HM), becomes ineligible for future Council competition for any other division (Monochrome Print, Color Print, 2¼ Slide, Color Slide, Nature Slide, Monochrome General DPD, Color General DPD, or Nature DPD).  Any Monochrome Print, Color Print, 2¼ Slide, Color Slide, Nature Slide, Monochrome General DPD, Color General DPD, or Nature DPD image that is so similar to a successful Monochrome Print, Color Print, 2¼ Slide, Color Slide, Nature Slide, Monochrome General DPD, Color General DPD, or Nature DPD image by the same maker that a casual observer would think they are the same image is not allowed and will be disqualified.”

·         PASSED -- Proposal: “Because of declining participation, the 2¼ Slide Division will be discontinued.”

·         PASSED -- Proposal: “In cases where a proposal is made at a board meeting and a decision needs to be made before the next regularly scheduled board meeting, a “virtual” vote can be called for and approved by the board members in attendance.  A specific date at least 2 weeks away must be set for board members and club representatives to respond by, a specific email address must be given for the votes to be submitted to, and an email must be sent by the GDCCC president or secretary to all board members and club representatives announcing the “virtual” proposal, the submission date, and the submission email address within 3 days of the board meeting when the proposal is made.  A quorum for this “virtual” vote will be a minimum of 3 officers and a minimum of 9 directors and club representatives.  The proposal and the vote will be documented in the meeting minutes for the following board meeting.”

·         PASSED -- Proposal: “In cases where it’s important that a decision be made at the next regularly scheduled board meeting, but the necessary proposal was not made at the previous board meeting, a “virtual” proposal can be emailed at least 2 weeks in advance of the next regularly scheduled board meeting by the GDCCC president or secretary to all board members and club representatives announcing the “virtual” proposal and the need for a vote at the next regularly scheduled board meeting.  The proposal and the vote will be documented in the meeting minutes for the following board meeting.”

New Business:

·         Proposal: “Instead of holding 6 Interclub 2¼ Slide Competitions per year, we will hold 1 competition as an end-of-year competition.  All entries will be in the same class.  The limit of 9 entrants per club per competition is removed.  Any member of any GDCCC club will be allowed up to 5 entries.  Awards will be Slide-of-the-Year, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and HMs equal to 25% of the total entries.  Trophies will be awarded for SOY, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, but a maker may only win one trophy.  The other general Slide Competition Rules apply.”  This proposal will be voted on at the April 25 board meeting.

·         West Oakland (not Toledo) will host the 2006 End-of-Year Banquet at Corsi’s.

·         We will continue to have the GDCCC Board Meetings at Judy Yaker’s home.  The Council will buy goodies.
