Minutes: GDCCC GENERAL BOARD MEETING
Date: March 26, 2002
Meeting Place: Moody-William Printing Company
The President, Bill Buchanan, called the meeting to order at 7:35 pm. There were 5 officers, 6 directors and 12 representatives present.
Handouts:
· Proposal for Print division changes
· Windsor 50th Anniversary Celebration
Officers’ Report:
·
Secretary: The minutes from the February 7, 2002
meeting were reviewed and approved.
·
Treasurer: The council has changed banks due to
the monthly fees that were going to be charged. Thanks to Sam Yaker, we are now banking at Huntington Bank. Current balance $2,690.00. We have received $750.00 in ticket purchases
for the Darrell Gulin Seminar.
Directors’ Report:
·
Print – Print entries are declining in
Monochrome. There were only 17 at the
last competition. Digital is the
fastest growing division. Judy has new
plans for a print box, but needs someone to build it. Upcoming print competitions are April 23rd at Motor
City and May 2nd at Livonia.
·
Color Slide – No report.
·
Nature – Next competition April 15th
at Pontiac.
·
2¼ Slides – The number of entries is
increasing. We are looking for a used,
self-feeding 2¼ slide projector (Kinderman 2¼ multi-slide projector).
·
Newsletter – The February 2002 newsletter
was the last one that will be sent to year 2001subscribers. Year 2002
subscriptions can be paid for by mailing $6 to John Kroll, 11511 Eagle Rd.,
Davisburg, MI 48350. Make checks payable to GDCCC. Include your
name and complete mailing address. The next newsletter will be sent out in May,
after the Print competition.
·
Website– Burlee is offering 12 months for the
price of 6 months ($77.70) for website hosting. This will take us through September of 2003. Motion made by John Kroll to accept website
price, seconded by Judy Yaker. Motion
passed.
·
Invitational – There were 10 1st
place awards – 2 went to Skip Moody. $125 was made on the competition. Next Invitational to be hosted by
Shutterbug. John Kroll brought up the
possibility that Invitational be considered as 7th council
competition to give additional points toward advancement to participants. The advantage of Invitational is the choice
of entry is up to entrant, not the club they belong to. John Kroll will draft a proposal for
discussion at our next meeting.
·
International Salon – Andy Wims has all the
information completed for the next International Salon to be held September 22nd. Deadline for entries is September 15th.
Seminars:
· Darrell Gulin: The seminar is set for May 18 & 19, 2002 at the Southfield Civic Center. Clubs need to push for sales. We need approximately another 150 tickets sold to consider this successful. William Buchanan to create slide to be included at club meetings to remind people about seminar.
· Adray Show – will be held weekend before Darrell Gulin Seminar. Members needed to staff table and talk up Seminar. Theresa Szymanski should spearhead.
Old Business:
·
New Determination for Print classes: A discussion was held on whether to combine
the print categories so there would only be 3 divisions, i.e.; Do-it-yourself
Monochrome, Do-it-yourself Color, and Commercial. It was suggested that there be Do-It-Yourself Monochrome – to include all self done
Monochrome prints, whether chemical or digital, Do-It-Yourself Color –
to include all self done Color prints, whether chemical or digital, and Commercial,
to include all prints done by someone other than the maker. All people affected by combination of print
divisions would be moved to the highest level they have attained between the
combined divisions. Ex. if you are at
beginner in digital and advanced in color, you would be at advanced in new
combined division. The proposal for
the change is to be taken to all clubs for discussion. Vote is
planned for next meeting. Make sure all
clubs are represented.
·
Next Meeting: Scheduled for Wednesday, May 8th.
Important all clubs have officers and delegates at meeting for vote on
new determination of print classifications.
New Business:
·
Awards – It was proposed that we consider medals
as awards instead of trophies. Judy
Yaker to follow up on cost of medals and engraving. She will check on the designs available and how they will be
packaged, etc.
Meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Bolio, GDCCC Secretary
