Club Directors need
to make sure they come with their paperwork complete or arrive early enough to
complete it so that competitions can start on time. Blank forms are available on the GDCCC website. Judging starts at 8:00 p.m. Please try to have your prints, slides and
paperwork turned in by 7:45 so we can start on time.
·
Website– is up to date. Clubs need to contact John Kroll with any
upcoming events they are planning or give links for events on the club websites
Old Business:
· Study Group for Photoshop - There are interactive CD’s available for learning Photoshop and Camera Mart has offered us space to get together for class. Alex Lane will check on availability of dates to get together in April for 1st meeting.
· Historian: We are still looking for someone to help archive and save our club records and historical facts. We are also making arrangements to recover past records from some of our late members’ families. Records we are looking to preserve are past officers, Changes to the rules and regulations throughout the years., prominent members, previous clubs, Honors, Fellows, Directors etc.. Each club should try to put together their own information to add to the archive. Anyone with historical information should contact an officer of the GDCCC so arrangements can be made to preserve it. John Kroll, Art Thompson & Joanne Snavely will begin going through the old newsletters to preserve the important information. All clubs are requested to please give John Kroll personal and club information as well as the funeral home information on any members who have died.
·
Updated Membership lists – 5 clubs have sent
their membership lists to Kathy Bolio.
Please email to wbolio@bignet.net
or bring a hard copy to the May GDCCC meeting.
·
International Salon – Chairmen and Judges are in place, entry forms have been shipped out &
Medals for the awards have arrived.
·
Virtual Salon – Dennis Sauve has reviewed the program and believes it will require
someone with computer savvy to help run this.
Bill Buchanan will be in Florida for digital competition 4/24. He will check into how salon is run so he
will be able to help with our competition.
Slides must be a specific file size in order to be accepted. It will be up to participants to check the
status site to ensure that their slides were accepted.
New Business:
· Adray Photorama – May 14-16. We need volunteers to work the Council booth letting people know about the clubs. Judy Yaker to head the volunteer effort. It was suggested that we run the end of year slide show at the booth. We may need to borrow a digital projector from Adray or possibly a TV/DVD player.
· Council competitions – there has been a problem with clubs coming into council competitions and placing people at any level even if they have not competed in council before rather than placing them in the beginner class. According to the by-laws the council Director has the discretion to place an exhibitor, new to competition, in a level other than beginner. Club status and council status for competition are not necessarily the same.
· Competition Scoring – Judges should be utilizing the entire range of numbers from 1 to 9 when scoring council competition. Competent judges should be selected by the sponsoring club to ensure that the best available people are judging. Judges should be chosen from members who have acquired a certain level of points in competition, be a judge of known ability, and/or be active competitors. The competition director should instruct judges to use the entire range. We also need to watch the score boxes for equipment failure and make sure judges are putting in the scores they think they are putting in.
Next Meeting: Wednesday May 12, 2004
Meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Bolio, GDCCC Secretary
