Minutes:                GDCCC GENERAL BOARD MEETING

Date:                       March 31, 2005

Meeting Place:      Moody-William Printing Company

 

The 1st Vice President, Mike Florian, substituting for President Art Thompson, called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.  There were 3 officers, 3 directors and 11 representatives present.

Officers’ Report:

·         Secretary: The minutes from the February 16, 2005 meeting were reviewed and approved.

·         Treasurer: current balance $11,874.41.  The only outstanding bills are for ribbons & rent to Oakwood Hospital for rooms to hold International Salon.

 

Directors’ Report:

·         Print – Next competitions Monday 4/25/05 at Photoguild & Thursday 5/19/2005 at Livonia

·         2¼ Slides – Joanne Snavley is the new 2¼ director.  Due to low number of entries, all classes are combined to increase competition.  Next competition Tuesday April 5, 2005 at Windsor.

·         Color Slide –Next competition Tuesday April 5, 2005 at Windsor.

·         Nature – Next competition Monday, April 18 at Pontiac.

·         Website– Up to date.  John Kroll checking to make sure all slides from year-end are viewable.

 

Old Business:

·         Study Group for Photoshop  - There needs to be more people available to bring laptops to reduce dependence on any specific person.  Judy Yaker will speak with Camera Mart to get approval for Saturday April 30th from 1PM to 3PM as the next possible class time.  Council members need to go back to their clubs to increase interest.

·         Updated Membership lists – Most clubs have submitted current lists.  Still need Oakwood & Toledo.  Please email to wbolio@sbcglobal.net

·         Virtual Salon – Dennis Sauvé has had problems with record keeping.  He is working on reducing the amount of cross-referencing required to track participants.  People sending submissions for testing, use web address www.windsorcamerclub.com/DISOP to get to location for entering samples for test.  You need to use the entire web address listed.

 

New Business:

·         Rick Sammon Seminar – GDCCC will host a seminar featuring Rick Sammon on 9/24/05.  Website www.ricksammon.com .  He presents on digital photography but is more user friendly, less technical.  He is a working professional photographer.  Bill Buchanan has checked on Henry Ford in Dearborn – rent would be $1000.  Joanne Snavley is checking on Henry Ford Centennial Library – Need to make sure of Audio Visual setup availability, Food possibilities, # of seats available.  Skip will check with Art to see who should follow up on this.

·         Adray Show – Will be held in-store this year due to less vendor participation.  Susan Brown will check to find out if GDCCC will have a table when the show will be set.  Clubs will be assigned time slots and will be responsible for getting personnel to man the table.

·         Photoguild Seminar – Flyers handed out for the 4/16 seminar at Henry Ford Community College, Tim Grey – Digital Guru presenting.

·         New Secretary Needed: Kathy Bolio is resigning effective immediately.  Her current schedule does not allow for the times necessary to perform her assigned duties.  She was thanked for her years of service by all attendees.

·         Mentor lists – Several clubs are beginning to develop mentors to help new & current members learn special techniques including black & white & macro among other specialties.

·         Club Websites – Are becoming very effective for gaining new members.  In fact, several clubs have said the majority of their new members are gained through the website.  Clubs without websites are looking for help to develop their own.  John Kroll, who handles the GDCCC website, could be a source of information.
