Minutes:          GDCCC GENERAL BOARD MEETING

Date:             May 23, 2005

Meeting Place:   Moody-Williams Printing Company

 

The 1st Vice President, Mike Florian, substituting for President Art Thompson, called the meeting to order at 7:37 p.m.  There were 3 officers, 2 directors and 7 representatives present.

 

Handouts:  

·       Minutes 3/31//05 GDCCC Meeting

·       Windsor Camera Club “The Art of Phtotgraphy” Free Admission brochures for June 9th to July 3rd

·       GDCCC Rick Sammon Seminar list of issues to be resolved

 

Officers’ Report:

·       Secretary: The minutes from the March 31, 2005 meeting were reviewed and approved.

·       Treasurer: The current balance is $11,649.43.

 

Directors’ Report:

·       Print – Next competition is Wednesday, September 21 at Shutterbug

·       2¼ Slides – Next competition is Thursday, September 22 at West Oakland

·       Color Slide – Next competition is Thursday, September 22 at West Oakland

·       Nature – Next competition is Tuesday, September 27 at Motor City.  The Avon club has dissolved.  Avon was to host the November 17 competition.  Anita and Skip will research alternatives to bring to the next Board meeting for discussion.

·       Website – Dennis Sauve asked to take over as GDCCC web admin, which would make it easier to do the Virtual Salon.  Approved.

·       Salon – This year’s Salon judging will be held on Saturday, September 17th at Standard Federal on Big Beaver.

 

Old Business:

·       Secretary needed – John Kroll volunteered to record meeting minutes.

·       Photoshop Study Group – There were 10 – 15 people at the 1st meeting on April 30th at Camera Mart.  They viewed 3 programs from the DVD (viewer’s choice).  Judy will ask Camera Mart for another session on 10/29 or 10/22.  The presentation DVD was rented from PSA for $20 plus shipping.  The cost to purchase the DVD is $225.

·       Updated membership list – No news.  Judy will send a note to Larabee.

·       Virtual Salon (DISOP) – Dennis is moving the Windsor site and the DISOP to new web hosting servers.

o      We need PSA approval and sponsorship to hold a separate Virtual Salon, but may be able to add it to the DISOP for 2006.

o      Should we do a trial Digital Projection competition in the fall and then vote whether or not to start a DP division for 2006?

o      Dennis is concerned about the potential for JPEG viruses and worms in the image files that will be submitted.

o      Dennis asked to have PayPal set up.

·       Adray Show – Judy’s waiting to receive a book that was left at Adrays.  It was recommended that we do not try to “man” a table next year.

·       Mentor Lists – No news.

 

New Business:

·       Rick Sammon Seminar – GDCCC will host a seminar featuring Rick Sammon on 9/24/05.  Website www.ricksammon.com .  He presents on digital photography but is user-friendly, less technical.  He is a working professional photographer, sponsored by Canon, and will have books, CDs and software to sell.

 

Loretta and Dennis will register GDCCC with PayPal ASAP.  Then we can have people email Payment@GDCCC.ORG to pay for tickets.

 

Issues to be resolved:

Venue Location – Henry Ford Community College

Admission Ticket Cost -- $35 in advance, $45 at the door

Ticket Chairman – Loretta Williams

Address, phone and email for contact – Anita and Loretta

Design Brochure – Bill Buchanan will pattern it after the Tim Grey seminar brochure

Brochure Printing Quantity – 4000

Mailing List – use the Photo Guild list (1600 names)

Morning coffee set up – try to hire City Park (later)

Distribution of Brochures to camera shops and clubs – Have each club distribute in their area.
