Old Business:
·
For the
recommendation that we combine CS and NS competitions, Anita will plan the 2007
schedule with CS and NS combined and will change the judging time to 7:30 PM
for the combined CS/NS competition. DP
and Print competition judging will still start at 8:00 PM.
·
DISP – John Kroll
asked when the DISP presentation of slides and prints would be. Only PPS had specific dates in the DISP
forms. No one was able to provide dates. Ron Genaw is
currently at the PSA Conference. NOTE:
Next year’s September Board Meeting should NOT be held during the PSA
Conference….
New Business:
·
Tom Callen (WO VP) presented a survey of WO members that showed
that the majority would like to have digital manipulation restricted for the
Digital Nature Division. Discussion
included the PSA rules for Digital Nature, what forms of digital manipulation
should be allowed (contrast, cropping, brightness, flipping, colors, converting
a color image to monochrome…), which should be restricted (addition of
individual elements, removal of individual elements), which needed more
discussion (eliminating specular highlights, adding a
light to an eye, removing a blade of grass or a branch or a power line),
possible names for a new “Creative/Manipulated/Digital Art” category (we need a
better word…), and whether manipulation should be restricted for MG and CG
categories, too.
·
Dennis Sauve proposed that we limit the use of digital borders to
1 color, 5 pixels wide for Digital Nature.
·
John Kroll will
prepare an initial draft of the Digital Projection changes that were discussed
during the meeting and distribute it to Board members via Email. We will then be able to continue the
discussion via Email before the next Board meeting and hopefully be able to
have fairly solid wording ready before the next Board meeting.
·
Reminder: The
Honors nominations and nomination of officers
processes need to be started in September.
Next meeting: Tuesday,
October 24, 2006 (at Judy Yaker’s home).
Meeting adjourned at 9:30
pm.
