Minutes:                       GDCCC GENERAL BOARD MEETING

Date:                            October 20, 2004

Meeting Place:            Moody-Williams Printing Company

 

 

President, Art Thompson, called the meeting to order at 7:30p.m.   There were 3 officers, 3 directors and 7 representatives present.

 

Handouts:

·          Minutes of the September 16, 2004 GDCCC meeting.   Motion accepted as read.

 

Officers’ Report:

·          Secretary: Minutes from the September 16, 2004 meeting were reviewed and approved.

·          Treasurer: $13,556 balance (approx.)

 

Directors’ Report:

·          Prints: Last competition will be held November 1 at Pontiac.  All clubs are asked to return prints no later than November 1st.   Monte Nagler has been approached to judge year-end prints.  No response from Monte to date.

·          Color Slide: Next competition at PhotoGuild on Monday, October 25.

·          Nature: Last competition scheduled for November 18 at Avon.   All clubs are asked to return their slides on that date.

·          2-1/4: Next competition scheduled on Monday, October 25, at PhotoGuild.

·          Salon: All report cards and winners have been posted on Council website.  A total of 2,842 entries (711 entrants) were received.

 

Old Business:

·          Study Group for Photoshop: Project on hold.  More discussion to follow.

·          Updated Membership Lists: To date, only two clubs have submitted an updated membership list.  Please forward to secretary, Kathy Bolio at wbolio@bignet.net, or bring to the next GDCCC meeting.

·          Virtual Salon:   Dennis Sauve advised work on the database is almost completed.  An updated report will be presented at the next GDCCC meeting.

·          Year-End Banquet: Pontiac to host banquet, Saturday, January 29, 2005.   Tickets will be available for distribution at next Council meeting in November.

·          Digital Seminar (Tim Grey): Council had been discussing the possibility of hosting a 2-day seminar with Tim Grey.  However, this has been placed on hold as Bill Buchanan, from the PhotoGuild Club, had also been in contact with Tim to host their 2005 Seminar.   Art Thompson to look into the matter and will further advise Council.

 

New Business:

·          Honor Nominations: President distributed information regarding nominations.  They are to be returned to Mike Florian or Art Thompson no later than November 30.

·          Office Nominations: The following nominations for next terms were accepted:

            President            -            Jim Paszkiewicz

            1st VP              -            Mike Florian

            2nd VP             -            Anita Weiner

            Directors at Large  -            Larry Diggs

                                                Ron Genaw

·          Disqualified slides: President discussed the fact that many disqualifications were made at the last slide competitions due to errors in classification.  He advised it is each club Director’s responsibility to enter the proper class for each individual.   This can be done by getting the information on the Council website before each competition, or by obtaining this information from the respective slide/print Director the evening of the competition.

·          Digital Equipment: A suggestion was made whether it would be to Council’s advantage to purchase their own laptop and digital projector.  Discussion to be continued.

·          Competition Schedule: Mike Florian distributed the “proposed” 2005 Interclub Competition Schedule.  Please contact Mike with any discrepancies before final approval.

·          Council Ribbons: To make ordering all of the Council ribbons more efficient, a suggestion was made for the Treasurer to solely handle this function.   Treasurer agreed.
