New Business:

·         Special Request: Two Detroit area students, Nicole Brown and Justin Wright, have been awarded NANPA scholarships to attend the NANPA Summit in Las Vegas from January 16-21. While there, they will receive instruction in Nature Photography from several professional nature photographers. The scholarship covers lodging, food, and instruction. Ted Nelson and Claudia Adams were asked to be local sponsors for the students. Ted would like to help provide $369 to each student for airfare and is looking for individual or club donations. For more information, please contact Ted directly by phone at 734-394-1261 or by email at NelsonTed@aol.com.

·         Request for Rule Clarification: The current slide competition rules state that "Those 2" x 2" x 1/8" slides that are NOT acceptable in the Nature Slide Division and are not acceptable in the Electronic Imaging Slide Division are acceptable as Color Slides." At Nature Slide Competition #5, Pontiac entered a "Bumblebee on a Zinnia" slide, which was disqualified because it contained a "cultivated flower". Therefore, when the Pontiac directors subsequently had a "Butterfly on a Cosmos" slide, they entered it as a Color Slide, because they knew the Cosmos was a "cultivated flower" and the slide would not be accepted in the Nature Slide division. But, at Color Slide Competition #6, the "Butterfly on Cosmos" slide was disqualified because "it was a Nature Slide". A subsequent check with Skip Moody verified that it would not be accepted in the Nature Slide Division because of the "cultivated flower". John Kroll requested a list of known Nature Slide disqualifiers that club directors and the GDCCC Color Slide director could use so that it is not necessary to take every slide to Skip to have it disqualified as a Nature Slide before it can be submitted as a Color Slide. Skip said that anything with the "hand of man" in it or with a "cultivated flower" in it would be disqualified as a Nature Slide. Skip also requested that printed copies of the current Constitution, By-Laws and Rules be distributed.

·         Darrell Gulin Presentation: Judy and Anita proposed a GDCCC sponsored seminar featuring Darrell Gulin. The seminar would be scheduled for either 1 day or 1 ½ days and could offer portfolio critique for a set fee ($15 for a 25 minute session). Approval was given for them to check it out.

·         Trophies Needed: Floating trophies need to be returned.

·         Adray Results: Names obtained at the Adray show were given to club representatives.

Next meeting:

·         Thursday, February 1st at 7:30 p.m.

·         The March meeting date was not set.

Meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Diane Kroll, GDCCC Secretary

P.S. Many thanks to John for taking notes at the meeting!
