Handouts:

o        Minutes 10/14/02 GDCCC meeting

o        Official Scheduled Interclub Print Competition Rules effective 01/01/2003

o        Livonia Camera Club presents “An Evening with Jack Kenny”

Officers’ Report:

·         Secretary: The minutes from the October 14, 2002 meeting were reviewed and approved.

·         Treasurer: $8,029.55 current balance including International Salon entries.  Still some Salon expenses to pay & entry forms for next year.  We should have financial report on Salon by next meeting.  Some of the Salon shipments were returned due to error at post office reading bar coding on shipping labels.  This has been corrected and they were reshipped no additional charge.  Label will be redesigned for next year.  We still need to come up with a way to meet general expenses year to year.

Directors’ Report:

·         Print –New revised print competition dates: Tuesday 2/25/03 Motor City, Monday 3/24/03 Photo Guild, Thursday 3/5/03 Livonia, 9/10/03 Shutterbug, Monday 11/3 Pontiac.  Year-end prints have been judged.

·         Color Slide – Year-end judging is finalized.  Competition dates for 2003 will be available on web site.

·         Nature – Last competition completed 11/21/02.  Waiting on slides from several clubs to complete end of year judging.

·         2 ¼ Slides – All judged for year-end.  Judy will send out results.

·         Newsletter The next newsletter should be mailed mid-December.

·         Website– All scores and moveups for next year will be on the website.  Be sure to check now that Digital and Color are combined for prints.  This will affect some standings.

Old Business:

·         International Salon – Thanks to all who helped.  Catalogs are in the mail and the entry form for 2003 was included with the catalog.  For 2003, the category  “Authenticated Nature” will be kept (it was new for 2002), but “Creative Color” will be replaced by a new category “Scapes” (Landscapes, waterscapes, Cityscapes, etc.)  Both the catalog and the winning prints are available on the website.  Next year the report cards will be available on line also.

·         GDCCC Annual Awards Banquet: Motor City will be hosting January 25th at Corsi’s.  Tickets were handed out to be available for sale at all clubs’ next meetings.  Bill Buchanan needs to contact honorary GDCCC members.  Motion was made by Judy Yaker and seconded by Skip Moody to purchase 250 medals with ribbons & boxes. This will be a great savings over the cost of trophies.  Medals are being created for end of year awards and will include GDCCC logo.  It was also discussed to use medals for the salon next year as well. See pricing table below.

·         Term limits on offices of Secretary & Treasurer – It was recommended that the term limits be suspended on the offices of Secretary & Treasurer.  This was unanimously approved.

·         GDCCC Invitational – A vote was held to determine if the Invitational should be modified or continue as is.  The vote was 13 to 4 in favor of keeping the Invitational as it currently is.  Shutterbug will host the Invitational in 2003.

·         Election of GDCCC Officers – The following nominations were accepted and voted on

President – Art Thompson
1st VP – Alex Lane
Treasurer – Loretta Williams
Director at Large (2 seats) – Bill Buchanan, Bill Glaspie

Since all were unopposed, motion to accept was made by John Kroll and seconded by Anita Weiner.  It passed unanimously.

Seminars:

·         An Evening with Jack Kenny – January 16, 2003 at 8:00 pm, the Livonia Camera Club will present this interesting commentary on how Jack Kenny was able to experience life and travel and photograph in Cuba for many years.

New Business:

·         Print Mounting – Due to the fact that the prints this year were quite cumbersome, the argument was made that Prints should be presented on a single 16” x 20” backboard with only a single or no mat board.  This was deemed important to reduce bulk and weight.  A motion was made by Andy Wims and seconded by Ron Genaw to “limit the maker to using no more than a single mat board and only a single backboard.”  Motion passed.

·         Digital Slides – A question arose over what is acceptable for digital slides – General rules state “For Digital Slides that are submitted in the Color Slide Division (12/05/01 revision), the image entered must come from a photograph or montage of photographs taken by the entrant on film or electronically recorded.  All work, computer images, photography and image manipulation, with the exception of generating the transparency, must have been created personally by the author.”  It was suggested that if there is any question that the slide might not conform to these rules, the maker be requested to supply the original image(s) the slide was based on.

·         Competition Rules – All current rules should be printed and passed out to all club members before new round of competitions.

Next Meeting:  Scheduled for Wednesday, January 15th.

Meeting adjourned at 9:03 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Kathy Bolio, GDCCC Secretary
