Minutes:            GDCCC GENERAL BOARD MEETING

Date:                December 5, 2005

Meeting Place:  Moody-Williams Printing Company

The President, Art Thompson, called the meeting to order at 7:25pm.   There were 3 officers, 2 directors, and 10 representatives present.

Handouts:

·         Minutes from November 8, 2005 Board meeting.

·         Final 2006 competition schedule

Officers’ Report:

·         Secretary:   The minutes from the November 8, 2005 meeting were reviewed and approved.

·         Treasurer:   To date, treasury is over $16,000.

Directors’ Report:

·         Prints: Year-end prints are all judged.

·         2-1/4 slides: Year-end slides will be judged December 15, 2005.

·         Color slide: Clint was not present and has resigned.   There will be no year-end awards because all the color slides had been stolen out of Clint’s vehicle.  Other Council equipment was also stolen, including the score box.  It was recommended that the hosting clubs furnish the scoring box at each competition.

·         Nature slide: Year-end slides have all been judged.  Skip AGAIN mentioned that all clubs need to pay more attention to the titles and makers names that appear on the slides.   Some of the information is not legible or correct.

·         Website: Dennis advised all clubs now have their maps, thru MapQuest, entered on the website, as well as a map to the banquet location in Livonia.

·         DPD: The DPD Committee presented their final results and recommendations for the new Digital Projection Division (DPD).   After much discussion, Council voted to purchase the appropriate projector, laptop, software, and other necessary equipment.  It was suggested that the competitions be held on a separate night to adequately have time for the three divisions (color, nature & monochrome).   No “final” schedule determined at this time. However, a suggestion was made to schedule them all at Motor City but hosted by various clubs.   The clubs that volunteered to host were PhotoGuild, Windsor, Motor City, Shutterbug, Pontiac, and West Oakland.   Entry rules will remain the same as it pertains to the slide divisions. However, other areas of concern, i.e. image size, etc. will be tabled for more discussion.  Larry Diggs will look into and advise which method would be feasible to insure the new equipment. If added to a homeowner’s policy, the estimated cost would be $44/yr.  A separate policy would be in the range of $750/yr.

Old Business:

·         Honors Committee: Nominations for Honors awards were presented and voted on by Grosse Pointe, Oakwood, Shutterbug & West Oakland.

·         Election of Officers: All three officers (Directors at Large; Ron Genaw & Larry Diggs, and 2nd V.P.; Anita Weiner) will stay on for another term.

·         Council Meeting Location: Until a permanent location can be determined, the next meeting will be held at Judy’s home.

·         Banquet: The GDCCC 2005 EOY Banquet will be held January 28, 2006.  Cost is $25 per person and clubs are to contact Muriel Berry (Shutterbug) with their final count.

New Business:

·         Replacement Color Slide Director:   Alicia, from Motor City, offered to help out in the color slide division.

President, Art Thompson, thanked Skip and Loretta for all their great work and help these past years in the Council.  Loretta still remains in the hospital and we all are anxious to have her back with us soon.

Next meeting: Thursday, February 2, 2006 (at Judy’s).

Meeting adjourned at 9:45pm.
